Do you want to change your FONT size so you can see it better?  Maybe you would like a new app that might help you manage your meds or prepare a grocery list? \n\n\n\nIn this session\, we will be introduced to the Teeniors program via ZOOM.  Teeniors are tech-savvy teen & young adults who help seniors (or any- aged person) learn technology through one-on-one\, personal coaching.  Whether it’s a smart phone\, computer\, or software\, it is the goal of Teeniors to empower you to connect with your loved ones\, engage with your community\, and the world through technology\, while providing paid\, meaningful jobs for youth.  \n\n\n\nLearn more at their website. \n\n\n\nTrish\, the founder of Teeniors in Albuquerque will introduce us to Teeniors and explain how this concept came about and how they can help our Parkinson’s Community learn to use their cell phone apps\, computer programs and more. AND we’re not finished … \n\n\n\nOn July 25th\, from 1:00pm – 3:00 pm at our PD Clubhouse\, we will have a hand’s-on working session with Teeniors where they will physically help you learn and understand the programs and apps on your smart phone\, lap top or IPad which you may be having difficulty with.  Remember to bring your devices! Mark this on your calendar! It’s also going to be our Sledgehammer and Slices party to kick-off the demolition/construction of our gym Expansion!!!!! SUMMARY:Recently diagnosed (Part 1 of 3): Let’s Talk Parkinson’s with Gordon Woods
DESCRIPTION:Gordon Woods\, MD\n\n\n\n\n\nThis 50-minute session will provide a brief\, broad overview of PD (Parkinson’s disease). Questions will include: What is PD? What are the symptoms of PD? How is PD treated\, and what can I do to care for myself? If time allows there may be a brief overview of the five major classes of medications used to treat PD. Following the presentation and there will be open discussion time.  \n\n\n\nGordon Woods is from Las Cruces\, NM and studied chemistry (BS 1974)\, microbiology\, medicine (MD 1980)\, and internal medicine (board-certified 1984). He joined the faculty of UC\, Davis (1989)\, U.IL (1996)\, U.AZ (2004)\, and the TTUHSC Paul L. Foster School of Medicine in TX (2009). Dr. Woods has been managing his own PD diagnosis since 2011 and retired to Santa Fe\, New Mexico in 2021. He enjoys music\, traveling\, writing\, and\, of course\, boxing. \n\n\n\n\n*Disclaimer. SUMMARY:Preparing for the Inevitable: Reviewing End-of-Life Options\, including Medical Aid in Dying
DESCRIPTION:In 2021 New Mexico authorized a new medical practice so that a qualified terminal patient can request and receive lethal medications to end their suffering and their life… if and when they choose. This session\, similar to last year’s session\, will briefly discuss the importance of having conversations about living and dying consistent with one’s values\, provide an overview of various end-of-life options available to consider\, highlight the key aspects of NM’s End-of-Life Options Act\, and share some stories and experiences from the front lines. There will definitely be time for Q&A and discussion. \n\n\n\nBarak Wolff and Sherry Burns are members of the End of Life Options New Mexico Board of Directors\, a non profit with a mission to provide education and support for all end-of-life options\, including medical aid in dying. Barak is a mostly retired\, long-time public health leader in NM who has been deeply involved in end-of-life issues for a dozen years. Sherry Burns is an End-of-Life Doula who chairs the EOLONM Client Supports Volunteer Committee.
