    This group program is for those who have experienced recent deaths of family, friends, or colleagues.

    The program is sponsored by The Memory Care Alliance. It is free-of-charge and is facilitated by Eileen Joyce, Hudson Institute Certified Coach and Certified Grief Recovery Specialist with 25 years of experience.

    In these six Fridays you’ll have the opportunity to talk about your loved one and how you’re dealing with the challenges and grief of your loss.

    We’ll cover:

    • The myths of grief, loss, and healing
    • Helpful ways to heal your broken heart
    • How unresolved grief affects the capacity for happiness
    • Creating resilience even in times of greatest challenges

    This educational, supportive, and action-oriented program is for people with Parkinson’s Disease or dementia and their caring partners. Whether you have the diagnosis or are the partner/helper, you each have unique losses—physically, mentally, and emotionally. With the right tools and support, you can build the strength to bounce back from setbacks and create more balance and well-being in your daily life.

    Richard Houston, PhD, Clinical Psychologist and Educator, along with Eileen Joyce, Certified Coach/Grief Recovery Specialist, have developed this program. It is sponsored POP Santa Fe and the Memory Care Alliance, and therefore free of charge to participants.

  • Finding Parkinson’s – Doing Battle with My Brain

    Exploring the Power of Art and Expression in the Face of Parkinson’s Disease

    September 5 through September 14, 2025

    The Finding Parkinson’s exhibit and events highlighted the importance of creativity and movement in managing the physical and psychological effects of PD by promoting emotional well-being, cognitive function, and social connections.

    This special community exhibit featured the artwork of C. David Thomas, an accomplished Boston-based artist living with Parkinson’s Disease (PD) from his exposure to Agent Orange in the Vietnam war. Mr. Thomas explores the neurology of PD through his art, which superimposes facial images over his MRI brain scans and lithograph prints.

    The exhibit was accompanied by two panel discussions:

    expanding neuroscience research by discovering new ways to understand
    human behavior, as well as to prevent, treat and cure brain disorders
    and mental illness. Based in Albuquerque, NM, MRN consists of scientists
    located at universities, national laboratories and research centers
    around the world and is focused on imaging technology and its emergence
    as an integral element of neuroscience investigation.
