  • POP Gym Expansion – October 10, 2026

We are beginning our third week of construction and demolition is well underway. You can see from the attached pictures! All of the “square” ductwork is being removed and re-cycled and we are re-using the “round” ductwork throughout the space. This will ultimately be exposed to create an industrial “chic” look for the aesthetic theme of our gym.

Structural will commence sometime this week and once we have the roof shored up, we can remove the majority of the framing that you see in the pictures to create a wide-open circulation space and floor plan for our gym. The natural sunlight streaming through all the windows is amazing!

Adrienne and I also went appliance shopping for the Community Room in order to give our contractor the equipment specifications for the plumbing and electrical requirements these appliances will need. It was fun and the appliances will be VERY perky.

Alot of gobbily-goop language for WE ARE UNDERWAY! YAY.

Just a reminder…. this is a Construction Zone and it is not safe to just wander in and look around. Please understand and be mindful that our construction crew is trying to adhere to a schedule. We know you are curious and we can work out a way for you to see the progress that will be safe for you AND keep us on schedule… stay tuned.

So, that’s it for now…. you will hear from me again… until then….

This post will be a place where you can find out what has been happening with the POP Gym Expansion. I will update this post as often as there is noteworthy “new news” to tell you.

We have finalized the decision for our General Contractor! Our plan is to commence demolition on Monday September 28, 2026. I can tell you the anticipated overall time frame once we get underway. Our General Contractor and Architect will be Common Block Studio. Common Block will begin setting up the construction site prior to September 28th. Temporary chain link fencing with screening will be delivered and multiple dumpsters will be stationed on site. Taylor Pardue (GC/Architect) will be making the rounds to the immediate neighbors and HOA to introduce himself and notify them (in person) about our renovation plans.

It’s really happening folks! We are very excited about what we are planning for this wonderful project and CAN’T WAIT for you to start seeing some progress, so….. STAY TUNED!

You will hear from me again… until then…..

    Hi Everyone,

This post will be a place where you can find out what has been happening with the POP Gym Expansion. I will update this post as often as there is noteworthy “new news” to tell you.

We have secured our building permit from the City of Santa Fe, and we are in final negotiations with the best evaluated general contractor. This general contractor has submitted a bid and is securing final sub-contractor proposals for this expansion/renovation project. This is a very critical and time consuming activity as it not only establishes the work scope for our project going forward, it also establishes the project cost estimate to complete.

We have a great architectural/general construction/project management committee assembled. They are as follows:

    • Adrienne Shurbet – Owner and Head Honcho
    • Stephen Elliott – Owner/POP Board of Directors and Legal Council
    • Dale Zinn – Senior Project Architect
    • Taylor Pardue – Project Architect
    • Peggy Samaha – Owner’s Representative/Project Manager

As we continue to move forward, we will establish a consistent reporting mechanism for the POP Board of Directors. Fundraising will begin almost immediately so please help in anyway you can with this on-going campaign effort.

We are very excited about what we are planning for this wonderful project and CAN’T WAIT for you to see the progress… so….. STAY TUNED.

You will hear from me again… until then…
